Week 15

Both the Cryptography and Artificial Intelligence exam went quite well. Enjoyed studying both subjects very much.

I am writing this on Google Docs and a popup appeared just now: “help me write”. What! This reminds of the recent Gemini bubbles I am seeing across all Google products. I don’t like how companies are forcing AI on their customers. Where’s the option to disable this shit?

Spent some time thinking about how to write my dissertation. I wrote my literature review on Overleaf which is fine but I didn’t get the satisfaction of working locally - a fast custom workspace. Leaning towards using LaTeX locally. LaTeX Workshop and latexmk look interesting.

I got passionate about Typst for a while. I converted my literature review to Typst using pandoc. My enthusiasm wore off when I had to search or look up documentation to know how to do things. I thought if I use LaTeX at least I’ll learn something that is industry standard™.
